Open Rehearsal

Saturday October 12th

11.00am St Mary’s, Craswall

The Maiden & The Thief.  Spanish Music from Street & Stage

Want to see how a live classical music concert is put together? Worried the kids won’t sit through an entire concert? Why not join us for the rehearsals instead.

Note, this is not a full concert.  Rather a great opportunity to hear professional musicians rehearse experiencing how a leading period music ensemble and an acclaimed English tenor work together to put on such performances.  See below for further details.

Box&Fir together with acclaimed tenor, Rogers Covey-Crump

Open Rehearsals give a sneak-peak.  This is not a full concert.  You'll experience just what it takes to create a professional performance in the company of the musicians of Box&Fir together with acclaimed tenor, Rogers Covey-Crump.  You'll be able to sample some of the music that they will be performing during the evening concert.

In addition, you'll gain a fascinating insight into how two experienced musicians work together.

The rehearsal will take place in St Mary's, Craswall on Saturday October 12th starting at 11.00am.

The less formal nature of an open rehearsal makes it an ideal opportunity to bring all the family, offering a chance to introduce younger family members to live music.

We’re delighted to be able to give audience members the opportunity to attend this rehearsal; however, please remember that, as it is a working rehearsal, it is important that the performers are not distracted. We ask that all audience members ensure that they don’t make any noise, including applause, during the rehearsal.

Please be aware that you may not hear every piece planned for the evening concert.

Rehearsals are scheduled to last for approximately three hours, including a mid-session break. If you arrive late, you may not be able to enter the rehearsal until there is a break. Rehearsals may finish early at the discretion of the musicians without notice.

Video/audio recording and photography are strictly forbidden.

Address: St Mary’s Church, Craswall, Herefordshire, HR2 0PN, United Kingdom

Description: This tiny Norman church has remained pretty well untouched by time, except in the 18th century when the west end was cut off by a wall to provide a school room: at the same time a west gallery was installed. Apart from that, it has remained plain and simple, except for the huge number of hooks around the walls, whether to hang chairs when the church was not being used for worship (as the Vicar thinks) or for hats (as everyone else thinks). Its very remoteness is somehow enhanced by the fact that it stands in a field: the ground is too rocky to have allowed it to be used for burial.
